OA+D Collection Acquisition :: Wright-Related Teske Photograph Record Set
The OA+D Archives recently added an important record set of about 100 Frank Lloyd Wright-related photographic prints by Edmund Teske. The prints, personally chosen, printed off the original negatives, and all signed by Teske, represent an important collection of select Wright works of architecture (with a focus on Taliesin, Taliesin West, and Hollyhock House), early Fellowship life, and portraits of Wright and his family.
Edmund Rudolph Teske (1911 – 1996) was a 20th-century American photographer who combined a career of taking portraits of artists, musicians and entertainers with a prolific output of experimental photography. His use of techniques like combined prints, montages and solarizations led to "often romantic and mysterious images". Although he exhibited extensively and was well known within artistic photography circles during his lifetime, his work was not widely known by the public. He has been called "one of the forgotten greats of American photography."
This collection of Wright-related Teske prints constitutes one of the largest concentrations of the artist's photographic prints on the subject and will be processed, digitized, and made available to both researchers and the public for education and enjoyment.
We are interested in locating any additional Wright-related Edmund Teske photographs or other material related to Teske and Wright. If you have additional prints, negatives, correspondence, or other material, please contact us at info@oadarcives.org.

From The Archives
Continuing the theme or recent important photographic acquisitions, this month's "From the Archives" features an original cabinet card photograph of Frank Lloyd Wright supervising apprentices in the drafting room at his winter home at Taliesin West, Scottsdale Arizona, circa late 1940s. It's a rare glimpse into Frank Lloyd Wright’s daily working life, complete with a more casual attire. The iconic canvas ceiling at Taliesin West provides the wonderful lighting seen in the image. This photograph was acquired from the estate of Arnold Roy, a former longtime Taliesin West Fellow.
If you have original photographic materials related to Frank Lloyd Wright or the Taliesin Fellowship (or any other organic architectural or design items) that you're interested in donating to join our growing collections, please let us know by contacting us at info@oadarchives.org.
